Retrieve product key for Office 2007

When reinstalling Microsoft Office 2007 you need to locate your Microsoft Office 2007 product key – also known as the CD key (some times referred to as the serial number for Office 2007).

Normally this product key is on a sticker on the CD case that came with Office 2007. If you downloaded Microsoft Office 2007, the product key was probably sent to you in an email from Microsoft.

If you’ve lost your product key you can retrieve it from the computer registry but it’s encrypted. Manually locating the Microsoft Office 2007 product key from the registry is nearly impossible due to the fact that it’s encrypted. Follow the steps below to locate your Microsoft Office 2007 product key:

  1. Download the License Crawler (free for personal use) or similar software. Basically any product key finder will locate the product keys for any edition you may have including Microsoft Office 2007 Professional, Ultimate, Enterprise, Professional Plus, Small Business, Standard, Home and Student, and Basic.
  2. Follow the instructions provided by the software.
  3. The numbers and letters displayed by the program represent the Microsoft Office 2007 product key. The product key should be formatted like xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx – five sets of five letters and numbers.
  4. Write this key code down exactly as the key finder program displays it to you for use when reinstalling Microsoft Office 2007. Be sure to transcribe the key exactly.
